True, Animal Planet has some pretty boring shows. And its "Funniest Animals" show is really lame. But it has some extreme shows too! I saw komodo dragons! Chasing people! And eating their own babies! haha, sometimes that happens to me too -- thinking and planning things when i'm supposed to be sleeping. xD and i understand what you mean by wanting to have a simple bg for a complex character vector. one, you've already spent so much energy on the vector; two, a complicated bg might divert attention from the vector. to repeat that recent phrase of immense popularity: less is more. it can be, sometimes. and even if you're not as multiple-shading-layer-obsessed as i am, your vectors are still pretty and differ from the average.

Heh im a girl and i don't cook either. Im always eating out with my friends. Honestly, i don't think i can cook. The most edible thing that i've made was spaghetti or mac and cheese. =O

Lol yeah it can be nice sometimes to put your mind to sleep so it does not get too far ahead of you. for me, it is more of an i-want-to-vector-another-part-instead or an i-want-to-wall-my-next-idea-now kind of thing. my stuff is pretty much quick vector + simple bg, complicated vector + barely any bg, or more complex vector + scenic bg (that i dread to make). xD so you see, i have no need to rush into bg-making.

the thing with the arches is that the surfaces with gradients look too perfectly smooth. i will probably replace the gradients with a series of rough-edged shapes.

lol, like you, i too have a generic response (which i used in an interview) prepared for those situations. i have been saying it way too much lately though.

if you count the signs as decor, then i must add negligible in front of that. i mean, some people actually look at paintings and whatnot. but the signs? no. another example: several people asked me where the stairwell was. i told them and they turned their head in the other direction and *gasp* it was as close to them as i was. xP

a tablet is very good for painting and pen pressure is awesome. :] but if you do not draw/paint all that often, then a mouse will do. certainly a $90 one. but now that i think about it, a small wacom bamboo fun tablet costs $99. :O

i cannot stand humidity + sun. i guess that is how i survived las vegas. bottom of the grand canyon? a whole different world. @~-J@

Yeah hopefully the place would have something that i would like. To be honest, i've never really actually tried any japanese food besides that one time when i ate a rice ball with some kinda raw thingy inside. I have no idea what exactly was in there, but i did'nt really like it. =(
