I am OK now. It was just a stomach ache mixed with jealousy. It happens every so often lol.

All my characters look pretty much the same, so naw, I'm not that creative. Plus, a lot of times I get inspiration for my characters from other characters so it's not like I think them up all by myself. But, as I learned from my creativity course, people make themselves uncreative by saying "I am not creative," so I gotta stop thinking that way. Anywho, being able to draw buildings and stuff is amazing! Practice makes almost perfect, so you can draw people too! I need to start drawing things other than faces D8.

some people retire from walling because of life (and the time restrictions that come with it). and of course, over time, our interests change. i think it was tama-neko, another waller who's been around since forever, who once put an expiration date on wallers. i forget the specific length but during that time, wallers crank out walls. then the productivity/interest just dies and the next generation takes over.

Hopefully your move into uni wasn't too hectic.

Actually it was beyond hectic! X_x Just getting to the campus everyday is already a challenge...i mean i have to walk under the blazing hot sun everyday for a whole 15mins. That's how long it takes to get there from my apartment. I don't drive. .___.
Then there were these probs with my enrollment and i had to go see so many people to get the prob resolved. Walking around the big campus was tiring too. It was hard to find my way to the certain offices/departments. >_< Thank goodness i have everything settled now. So i suppose next week won't be as hectic as this. ^^;

I have'nt met my roommate yet. She's still on holiday and went back to singapore to visit her family. But i heard from my other housemates that she's a nice girl, and she's in the same uni as me too. ^__^

Haha you exaggerate. x] "epic" is too epic of a word to describe my stabs at scenic. anyway, i'm already planning on changing the way i vector for this particular piece because i want to preserve the scan's soft coloring as much as possible. so how about this? although i can't say when i'll be getting around to it, i'll vector the girls and show you. if you feel that the product will go with your trademark softness, then we can collab. if not, then i'll go on and do the rest myself. :] (bricks will be flying if somebody walls it before i/we am/are finished. today was a busy day at the hospital, so there was less dealing with forms, more walking around with patients and family members in tow and talking to them. but yeah, the exciting stuff lies beyond graduation.

i think the MT version of SZ is called the sandbox? i went there once to see what it was like and it was pretty dead compared to SZ. and looking at the age for the modern AP (it used to be purely a forum), you're right if you meant before AP-with-a-gallery was made. not sure about AP-as-a-forum. and lol, i can see that: so many magical girls with sparkles and lights and wings. :P

*takes back my bricks* now i feel kinda guilty >__< because your proposal makes no sense. if you think about it, i am the only one getting something out of this: i get to wall that scan AND i get a new sig. are you sure you are okay with it, even with your 233 other choices? :O the only logical compromise that i could come up with is a collab...but then that really depends on how you feel about it.

the arch does have a weird effect on the bricks. (which actually should be blocks. the difference? blocks are bigger.) but i think i have figured out the problem. that particular surface does not face the viewer, necessitating a second perspective point. however, the current lines for the light gray bricks are not drawn with respect to such a vanishing point. i will also thin out that pillar of bricks too to make it harder to compare it to the medium gray bricks. this way, any mistake in perspective will be less noticeable. xD; i will show you once i have something to show.

blowing off lint with an air hose. sounds fun. ever given folding hundreds of pieces of paper in perfect halves a try? but i guess it is tolerable to me since when i have to do monotonous work, the thinking part of my brain shuts off and time passes by without me noticing. helps minimize boredom.

with the most recent dramas that i have seen (which was during my summative evaluations and exam weeks *cough*), i cram-watched them. it is a good thing they were all jdramas, as from what i gather, jdramas tend to be the shortest of the bunch.

lol looking at that wall, you have sure come a long way. and that one is not the pretty girl type that most of your walls fall under. :O were you able to get any advice on it while it was still in progress? i remember getting help in SZ during my beginner days. xP

the light and medium grays are there to show the directions into which the different surfaces face. do the light gray bricks look wrong or is that just me?

ah tell me about it. xD from time to time, i make walls that just suck (with hindsight) but if i have to pick out the oldest wall that i can look at without grimacing, it would be this one. oh there are things i want to change, but at least i still think it's decent. unlike you though, my first walls are up on AP. so apparently, i have roughly one year and ten months of walling experience. (i'd put it at 1 year 11 months.)

Woohoo woohoo!! I'm excited to see your next wall, hehe. From what I've stalked, it's an Aria wallpaper, right? I was wondering, what is so good about that series other than the pretty and cute art? I watched the first episode way back then and I was bored out of my mind!!

About the wall that I'm working on... I totally hate 'vectoring,' especially the parts where I can't make out anything D8<! But I'm almost done the lines... the fun part is the coloring because that's when I'm actually working on my idea 8D.

I want more sleep... *yawn* but there's no sleeping in late during the summer for me (work). but there's nothing like discussing chemistry at this time of day. xD the labs that i've done don't get much more exciting than burning stuff, as we haven't quite had the chance to blow things sky high. i do know quite a few people who are itching to do so (since their junior high days...i wonder what they'll turn out to be when they grow up).

bricks. i'm sure by the end of it, i will say that i never want to vector another brick in my life. and knowing my tendencies to go overboard, i don't know if i will stop at one layer of shading.

aria! (i know nothing about this, except there's something about mars...) their clothes look painted. *__* very pretty, although a little minor thing: the immediately-left-of-center (the girl's left) bang for the pink-haired girl seems to be round at the end rather than pointed like the rest. and there is some jaggedness, notably that line near the left shoulder of the blue-haired girl. but i think that's probably due to the angle of the lines. and seeing aria reminds me that i want to wall this scan but it's so not my style that i don't know how to start.

i think over time, we become more sensitive to the more subtle aspects of walling (but by the time we are sensitized to those things, "subtle" would hardly be appropriate as a description). so maybe what is blatant to you now wasn't so much ignored but rather hard to see back then?

Talking about hair, i've just had a new hair cut recently. I even dyed my hair. Kinda bored with plain old black so i changed it to brown. ^_^ I wish i could have those fancy hairstyles too. But i don't think uni life is suitable with that kinda hair. I mean, i don't think i'll have enough time to manage it. =/

Well from my experience, people just practically walk around and look at cosplayers/anime merchandise...that's all there is to it. But it is surely a lot of fun. Especially if you go with some friends.

Ah yes, the good old lab report. my chem teacher asked us for handwritten reports. imagine the fun in a day and age where we are so accustomed to (and rely so heavily on) the ability to edit and insert missing info with the click of a mouse and some fast keyboard strokes. but of course, thankfully, our reports are nowhere close to 30 pages.

unfortunately, ambitious is not synonymous with successful. so while the idea looks great, the end result might leave something to be desired. my enthusiasm is falling and the very idea of shading the buildings makes me want to close photoshop. but i'm determined to pull this off...somehow. i haven't made much progress in recent days due to various reasons (NOT my laziness D:), but i have gone further than what i showed you last time.

still thinking about crumbling it some more.

i love walling at my own pace too, but for AP group contests, i find that i often join because of coincidentally fitting walls. xD and if i do wall specifically for a contest, more likely than not, the deadline is far off.

within the past year, i wouldn't say i've grown much walling-wise either. (you're skilled enough that getting better is harder for you than for me :O) doing some text-as-art is about all there was. however, looking past the one-year mark, "bad apples" aside, my stuff does seem different. mainly because one year ago was roughly about when i started sensitizing myself to jaggedness.

said goodbye to that old avatar of mine. had it for over a year. which reminds me: you owe me a sig. :'D
